Duty Free Caribbean Holdings (DFCH) was formed in October, 2000 with the specific objective of bringing together the regional expertise of Barbadian Company, Cave Shepherd & Co. Ltd. and the global strength of Dufry, to capitalize on the growth potential in the Caribbean duty free market.
The main retail brands within the DFCH portfolio are Cave Shepherd, Colombian Emeralds International (CEI), Jeweler’s Warehouse, Duty Free Caribbean and Pages Bookstore, with the Cave Shepherd operations headquartered in Barbados and the CEI operations headquartered in Florida, USA.
DFCH currently operates 61 stores in the islands of Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Grand Bahama, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Maarten and Turks & Caicos in addition to 32 CEI franchises in a further seven Central American and Caribbean territories and on-board Norwegian and Pullmantur Cruise Lines.
The Cave Shepherd Flagship Department Store in Barbados retails all the major brands in a wide assortment of categories catering to both locals and visitors, including perfume, cosmetics, liquor, tobacco, confection, designer clothing, beach wear, sportswear, designer leather, shoes, luggage, watches, jewellery, sunglasses, souvenirs, electronics, books and magazines, housewares, linens, toys and small appliances. In many of its other locations across Barbados and the region, the assortment is more focused on travel retail.
Colombian Emeralds International (CEI) has been operating in the region for more than 40 years and offers exquisite jewellery collections and a large selection of renowned jewellery and watch brands of exceptional quality and value. MR. GEOFFREY CAVE, K.A., C.B.E., B.C.H., Hon. L.L.D., UWI
Sir Geoffrey Cave is currently Non-Executive Chairman of Cave Shepherd & Co. Limited. Sir Geoffrey was first elected Chairman of the Board of Directors in 1970. Sir Geoffrey chairs the Boards of associates, DGM Financial Group, Duty Free Caribbean (Holdings) Ltd and Signia Finanical Group Inc. He also serves as Chairman of subsidiaries, Fortress Fund Managers Limited and Fortress Caribbean Property Fund Limited, SCC.
In November 2016, on the occassion of Barbados' 50th Anniversary of Independence, he was awarded the honour of Knight of St. Andrew for his outstanding contribution to business. In 2007, the University of the West Indies conferred on him an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) and in the Queen's New Years' Honour's List in 2003, he was appointed Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. His distinguished career in business in Barbados and the region was recognized in 2001 when he was awarded a Caribbean Master Entrepreneur Award.

MRS. MARY ELIZABETH BRENNER
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Mary Elizabeth Brenner joined the Duty Free Caribbean (Holdings) Ltd. team on 6th July 2017 in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer. With professional experience spanning over twenty-five years at senior management level within well-established retail organizations such as the DFS Group (division of LVMH) and Maui Divers Jewelry, Mary Elizabeth has proven expertise in strategic planning and positioning, business turnaround, growing new business and developing individuals and teams.
In her previous roles of President, CEO and Vice President, she has held direct responsibility for leading business transformations, delivering sales results, improving operational efficiencies as well as brand development and management. This along with her extensive experience in retail will further contribute to the development of our DFCH brands throughout the region.
As Chief Executive Officer, Mary Elizabeth is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership and management of the business operations of DFCH where she leads, directs and guides the Executive Management Team in the delivery of corporate strategies for growth and expansion and the achievement of ROI, sales and profit objectives.
MR. JAMES LAVELLE
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
James Lavelle is responsible for the administrative, financial and risk management of the Group.
Prior to joining Duty Free Caribbean Holdings (DFCH) , James was the Director - Financial Accounting & Control for gategroup Switzerland, a leading independent global provider of products and services to the travel industry. He has practical experience in our regional markets which he gained whilst working with telecommunications provider DIGICEL Group Limited. With over sixteen (16) years professional accounting experience, six (6) of which are at executive leadership level, James is primarily responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the finance and accounting functions, consolidation of regional statements, formulation of internal controls, compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements and management of the overall finance teams.
James is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales (FCA) and holds a BA (Economics) Degree from University of Manchester.
MRS. MAUREEN DAVIS
CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Maureen Davis is responsible for leading and overseeing the business development process for regional growth and expansion. Her role includes the identification and evaluation of new business opportunities, the co-ordination of legal processes related to new contracts and the management of the design and construction process. She is also responsible for all capital projects within the business related to refurbishments and brand installations.
Maureen joined Cave Shepherd & Co. Ltd. in 1983 and has extensive retail planning and design experience spanning twenty-five years. She assumed her current role with DFCH in 2000.
She is a Director of Cave Shepherd & Co. Ltd., Fortress Caribbean Property Fund, the Tourism Development Corporation and is a Council Member of the Barbados Museum & Historical Society.
